woodcut, 1902, on fibrous tan wove paper, Woll's first state (of three), a very good, early impression of this rare print, signed in pencil, inscribed Jung Mann auf dem Strand (Melancholi) [sic], with wide margins, with Stinnes's red collector's stamp in the lower left sheet corner, unobtrusive light staining, four small spots of greyish watercolour in the lower margin, one just touching the subject, small areas of skinning and surface rubbing just outside the subject at the lower left and elsewhere, a horizontal crease across the sheet just inside the upper sheet edge, a pencil line parallel to the lower sheet edge, occasional minor soft creasing, some defects at the upper and lower sheet edges verso where previously mounted
