A KELSTERBACH GROUP OF 'DECLARATION OF LOVE OVER THE COFFEE-TABLE'
CIRCA 1761-64
Modelled by Johann Carl Vogelmann, with a gallant and a lady seated at an oval table, the table with a coffee-pot, sugar-bowl and cup, the lady holding a cup in her hand, the gallant with his hand to his heart and with his tricorn hat under his arm, before a flat four-storey pavilion narrowing to a conical roof, with pierced windows and flanked by two cypresses beyond and framed by two arched branches of foliage meeting at the pavilion, on a rococo scroll-moulded platform on a pierced rocaille-moulded support on an elongated shaped rocaille-moulded mound base, the ends with two further cypresses above scroll supports behind two soldiers standing to attention with muskets and swords (chipping to foliate arch, ribbons, sugar-bowl, his left thumb, soldiers' swords, right soldier's musket, minute chipping to edge of base)
