A ZÜRICH EQUESTRIAN FIGURE
CIRCA 1770, BLUE Z MARK
Wearing a gilt-edged green peaked cap, a gilt-edged green jacket with a turquoise collar and cuffs, a gilt-edged green flowered turquoise waistcoat, gilt-edged green skirt and black shoes with gilt buckles, seated side-saddle with a long grey whip in her left hand and black reins in her right hand, the caparisoned white horse with its left foreleg raised, with silvered shoes, red rosettes on its black bridle and at the root of its tail, the gilt-edged puce saddle-cloth with purple flowers, red and gilt tassels and a scalloped rear and lower edge, supported below by a tree-stump on a shaped rectangular green and brown mottled incised mound base (horse's left ear restored, whip handle lacking, some flaking to turquoise enamel, areas of slight wear)
