The can painted with a basket of fruit and flowers on a ledge by a tasselled drape within an oval gilt band cartouche, against a reddish-orange marbled ground with two horizontal bands of overlapping leaves with pink flowerheads at intervals between gilt bands, the handle with moulded gilt foliage above pendant scrolls between bands of dot and ovolo ornament, the saucer similarly decorated, the central bouquet within a circular band of gilt scrolls and foliage (minute scratches and minute areas of wear, very minor wear to footrim of can)

Lot Essay

Nicolas Sinsson was a painter of flowers and patterns at Sèvres from 1773 to 1795. André-Joseph La France was a flower painter and gilder at Sèvres from 1776 to 1803 and from 1813 to 1828.
