AN AMSTEL ORNITHOLOGICAL PART DINNER-SERVICE
CIRCA 1770, BLUE Amstel MARKS, SOME WITH STARS, SOME WITH M.O.L. * MARKS, VARIOUS INCISED MARKS, THE TUREEN INCISED N:S M.OL L-48*NWS: (?) MONOGRAM
Painted with landscape vignettes with specimen birds perched on branches, fences, in flight and at rest surrounded by scattered cornflower sprays within meandering garlands of cornflowers and gilt line rims, comprising:
A two-handled oval tureen and domed cover, the tureen with gilt foliage handles (finial restuck with minute associated loss), 11 in. (27.9 cm.) wide
A shaped oval serving-dish, 16 in. (40.4 cm.) wide
A lobed salad bowl (minute rim chip), 10 in. (25.3 cm.) wide
Two lobed circular serving dishes (restored section to one), 11¼ in. (28.4 cm.) wide
Five lobed circular dishes in two sizes (one broken through in two sections and repaired, another with star crack to centre), 8¾ in. (22.3 cm.) wide and 8 in. (20.2 cm.) wide
Nineteen soup-plates (one with rim chip)
Twenty-five dinner-plates (one with small rim chip, one with chip to underside of rim and short crack from rim, one with two chips to underside of rim, one with one chip to underside of rim, one with rim chip and one with minute rim chip)
(varying degrees of wear to gilding throughout, some with slight scratching to enamels)
