A DUTCH DELFT BLUE AND WHITE CHARGER
CIRCA 1680, BLUE 6 (?) MARK
Painted in shades of blue after a late Ming Dynasty original, the blue-ground centre reserved with two gambolling Buddhistic lions by flowering lotus, with flowers and another lion above, within concentric circles and geometric ornament at the well, the border with flowers and foliage at intervals on a ground of small scrolls, within a blue band rim, the underside with lines alternating with circles enclosing crosses, the footrim pierced for suspension (chipping and flaking to rim and footrim, rim chip at 4 o'clock with short minor crack, crack around well from 5 to 7 o'clock)
