Lot Essay

This work is sold with a photo-certificate from Jacques Dupin dated Paris, le 2 mai 2000.

This drawing is a preparation for one of the eighteen lithographs (Mourlot, no. 518) that Miró created in 1967 to accompany his poem Le lézard aux plumes d'or. Shortly after the printing of the series, Miró and his publisher, Louis Broder, realized that there was an error in the manufacturing of the paper. As a result they had to stop the printing and destroy most of the prints; today only a few remain. In 1971, under the same title they produced a new series with different images.
