ELECTION-DAY, 1676. FIRST EDITION. A learned, formal address to Governor Leveret, the Council and the magistrates of Massachusetts-Bay on the occasion of election day, May 3, 1676. Hubbard, preacher at Ipswich, proclaims that "You are now called to the exercise of your civill Liberty (wherein much of your other libertys are bound up)," and he urges "the regular, conscientious proceeding in this business of Election," by which the people "have the liberty to choose their own rulers," citing a plethora of Biblical and historical examples. Rare: issued in the second year of printing in Boston. Evans 214.
