FIRST EDITION. "Parker went out to the Rockies in 1835 with the annual American Fur Company party, starting from Council Bluffs. Dr. Marcus Whitman traveled with him as far as the rendezvous on the Green River. Parker arrived at Walla Walla on October 6 and returned by way of the Hawaiian Islands in 1837...Parker's map was one of the earliest to circulate widely and to provide reliable information about the interior of Oregon Territory" (Wagner-Camp-Becker 70:1).
