The revolutionary new Armstrong Siddeleys with their modern styling were one of the sensations of 1945 and 12, 570 cars were built between 1946 and 1953. Initially the only four door model offered was the six-light Lanchester, but at the 1949 London Show (which also saw the standardisation of the more powerful 18hp engine in place of the 2 litre 16) the company showed the Whitley, a more sporting four door, four-light 4-5 seater style with integral projecting boot, also made from 1952 in the six-light configuration. The car was priced at
£1,272 in the U.K.
This is a particularly original example of the model, which has a speedometer reading of a mere 6,924 miles. Throughout the car, the condition is generally good, and it retains features such as its original walnut dashboard and door cappings, as well as its original spare tyre and foot pump.
