1962 ROVER P4 110 FOUR-DOOR SALOON

Registration No. 980 TAR
Chassis No. TBA
Engine No. TBA
Burgundy and beige with cream interior

Engine: six cylinders in-line, overhead inlet, inclined side exhaust valves, 123bhp at 5000rpm, 2,625cc; Clutch: single plate; Gearbox: four speed manual with overdrive; Brakes: hydraulic drum to rear, discs to front; Suspension: independent wishbones with coil springs to the front, semi-elliptic leaf springs to the rear. Right hand drive.

Introduced as the sunset version of the still-popular P4 series, the 110 was manufactured from 1962 to 1964. It was powered by a version of the P4 100's 2.6 litre six cylinder engine, still using the old overhead inlet, side exhaust valve layout first seen in 1949, but putting out 123 bhp thanks to the "Weslake" head and larger bore carburettor initially developed for the 3 litre P5. Other modifications included overdrive as standard, although the kickdown facility had been removed to avoid over-stressing given the increased power.

This car is yet another extremely original example. Its two-tone burgundy and beige paintwork is in very good condition, and the cream leather interior is described by our specialist as in 'absolutely perfect' original condition apart from some small areas of carpet under the doors. The car runs well, but the brakes are not working (due to the amount of time in storage) and will require attention before any attempt is made to drive it. The car still wears its last tax disc, which expired in July 1975.
