1935 FORD Y TYPE TUDOR SALOON
Registration No. CGN 454
Chassis No. Y110300
Engine No. Y110300
Black with red vinyl interior
Engine: four cylinder, side valve, monobloc, 933cc; Gearbox: three speed manual with synchromesh, centre change; Suspension: front and rear, independent by transverse leaf springs; Brakes: four wheel drum. Right hand drive.
This Model Y dates from the second generation of the model, which saw Ford tidy the styling generally. Aesthetically the radiator grille was now parallel-sided and the wings were now skirted and the windscreen was straightened slightly. The latter now opened with a central control, while further updates to the interior included a foot dipswitch and the instrumentation was grouped together in front of the driver.
This example wears a London County Council registration and was registered new on 26th October 1935 according to its continuation log book. No specific history is known until 1962, when this document confirms that it was the property of Michael Enright of Dartford, Kent. With local road tax stamps until 1965, it seems likely that this was when the car was sold to the Sharpe family and that it may have not been used since this time.
Despite this lengthy period of storage 'CGN 454' is presently in relatively tidy order, finished in standard black livery, this is enhanced by the choice of dark blue for the wire wheels. The interior, in red vinyl fabric although missing carpets presents very well and in general the car has the appearance of an aged restoration.
A buff logbook and V5 registration document are sold with the car.
