1965 HILLMAN SUPER MINX SERIES III FOUR DOOR SALOON
Registration No. KVW 294C
Chassis No. B14014978H/HSO
Engine No. B14014978H/HSO
Dark green with pale green interior
Engine: four cylinders in line, overhead valves, 1,592cc, 66bhp at 4,800rpm; Gearbox: four speed manual with synchromesh on all gears; Suspension: front, independent coils, rear, semi-elliptic leaf springs; Brakes: discs to the front, drums to the rear. Right hand drive.
The Super Minx was initially developed by Hillman as a successor to the Series III Minx, but the decision was soon made to aim it at a different, higher market sector. Introduced in 1961, the Super Minx offered more room than its sibling thanks to a new and more modern body. This was powered by the same 1,598cc engine allied to the four speed manual gearbox but offered better performance; the use of a slightly different tune released a few more horses and gave the Super Minx quicker acceleration and a higher top speed. Once again additions and revisions crept into the model gradually. Discs brakes at the front and a higher rear axle ratio had become standard by 1964, and the Series III added to this an all-synchromesh gearbox while re-clothing the package in a new six-light body-shell offering its occupants an even greater sense of space.
The car offered here was first registered on 25th February 1965. The bodywork has generally been well-preserved but shows signs of use, not least with a small dent above the front bumper. The pale green interior is still the original, and has survived the years well, suggesting that the 37,057 miles showing on the odometer may well be genuine. The car is sold with V5 document.
