A Chinese bronze ritual wine vessel, gu, Shang dynasty
of slender form, the spreading base cast with two taotie masks divided by vertical notched flanges, below two raised bands, the central section similarly decorated with taotie and flanges, the flaring neck with a band of leiwen-filled leaf-shaped panels, indecipherable characters to interior of foot -- 10½in. (26.7cm.) high, fitted wood box.
