Tasting note: The 1998 Brunello di Montalcino, an unusual and atypical dark ruby with purple highlights, offers ample berry fruit of good ripeness, herbs, and chocolate and rich, round flavors of black currants, rosemary and thyme, minerals and mocha in a context of fine volume and velvety tannins.
