Lot Essay

Raphael's early 16th Century decoration of the Vatican Loggia were drawn by Pietro Camporesi (d. 1781) and Gaetano Savorelli (d. 1791) and engraved by Giovanni Ottaviani (d. 1808) for Loggie di Rafaele nel Vaticano, Rome, 1772-1776 (P. Ward-Jackson, Victoria and Albert Museum Bulletin, April 1967, p. 61).
