The distinctive marquetry decoration of this commode is clearly inspired by French and Dutch cabinetmakers but shows also the characteristic design of westphalian artists like Wilhelm Ferdinand Lipper (1733-1800). Lipper was appointed Hofarchitekt to Bischof Max Friedrich Graf von Königsegg-Rothenfels. His designs are typical a stylist mix of the Louis XVI. Related marquetry decorations are urns, garlands, paterae and medallions with inlaid ruins and musical trophies. A related commode by Lipper is in the Residenzschloss Münster, shown by W.
