A rare 19th-Century English lacquered-brass compound binocular microscope,
signed on the foot WATSON & SON 313, High Holborn London no.865, the eyepieces with draw-tube adjustment and clamp, the barrel with prism drawer (prism missing) held on a limb with rack and pinion and micrometer adjustment from the main column, with simple stage with clips, condensor and plano-concave mirror, tilting between two uprights from the Y-shaped foot, with two eyepieces and two objectives in brass canisters, in a mahogany case with brass handle -- 44.5cm. (17½in.) high
