A large 19th-Century pine slide box,
containing twenty-four trays each for twelve slides and twenty-four trays each for six slides, some slides doubled up, with a good variety of amateur and professional preparations, some twentieth-century, by preparers such as Richard Suter, Wm. West, Watson & Sons, C. Baker, Arthur J. Doherty and Smith, Beck & Beck, several with labels for Paris Prize Medal 1867, and including some good insect specimens, the box with drop-leaf front and two brass catches -- 61.9cm. (24 3/8in.) wide; together with a 19th-Century polished-brass compound monocular microscope, unsigned, with rack and pinion and micrometer focusing, substage condensor mount and concave mirror, the main limb tilting between two shaped uprights from the Y-shaped base screwed to a mahogany board, with one objective in a brass canister, stage forceps and bull's-eye, live box and tweezers, the barrel unthreading for storage in the fitted mahogany case with brass handle and key -- 25.9cm. (10 1/8in.) high; and a leatherette-covered card case for twenty-four sliders, some covered in coloured paper, some twentieth-century, with a brass hook and eye (3)
