A fine and rare late 18th/early 19th-Century French tellurion,
the 2¼-inch diameter terrestrial globe A PARIS Chez C.F. Delamarche rue de Foin St Jacq made up of twelve hand-coloured engraved gores with graduated equatorial, ecliptic and meridian of Fero, the continents outlined in green and showing some rivers and a few cities, mounted within an ebonised brass frame with black and white-painted moon ball on a wire arm from the top, connected via an ebonised brass arm and string pulley to the central gilt-painted sunball with pointer and index below, mounted over a stylised gilt sunburst on the horizontal circle, the index reading off a hand-coloured engraved calendar scale around the circumference showing days of the month and of the houses of the Zodiac, raised on an elegant baluster-turned and ebonised column and plinth base with gilt-painted floral and foliate decoration -- 31.5cm. (12 3/8in.) high
