Provenance
Tolly was 23-year-old James Brooman's only companion on a 21,000 mile cycle ride from the north of Alaska to the southermost tip of South America.
The trip, aimed at raising funds to help rescue Moon Bears from the lifetime torture they endure in bile farms in China, was generously sponsored by bearmaking supplies company, Christie Bears of Porthcawl, South Wales.
It all began in 2003, when James was working at an investment bank in London, he decided he needed a real adventure. James set off on June 19, 2003 and his story has been chronicled in Teddy Bear Times. From freezing temperatures of the Alaskan North, through the raging heat and danger of Californian forest fires, from the Panama Canal to the Amazon rain forest, from Rio de Janerio and across the River Plate into Argentina, through Patagonia and on to Ushuaia, the southermost tip of the world.
James and Tolly returned on 25th May 2005, and now Tolly needs a retirement home.
