TWO LOUIS XV SILVER MOUNTED ENAMEL SNUFF-BOXES
Berlin, Fromery Workshop, or Paris, circa 1750, the latter with the discharge mark of Julien Berthe 1750-1756
Shoe-shaped white enamel on copper box with uptilted pointed tip and high heel, the concave oval cover decorated with raised gilded flowers and scrolling foliage, the sides similarly decorated, reeded straps and translucent green enamelled buckle, blue enamelled base of heel and sole, the reeded silver mounts with flanged thumbpiece at the rear of the shoe, struck with later French import mark; together with a similar box formed as a sedan chair with raised gilded flowers and scrolling foliage, the sides and base similarly decorated, the reeded silver mounts with flanged thumbpiece
