Lot Essay

Joseph Hone of Chamber Street, Sumner Street and 30 York Street, Dublin and Rockfield, near Kilmacud was a clothier and director of the Bank of Ireland. He was the son of Joseph Hone and a cousin of Nathaniel Hone, R.A.. He married Elizabeth Jacskon, only daughter and heiress of William Jackson, a tanner of Mill Street, the Liberties of St Thomas Court and Donore, Co. Dublin. She inherited a fortune of £50,000.
