FIRST EDITION. A general bibliography of law books, published by one of the most enterprising German booksellers and publishers of his time, J.J. Palm. As a publisher he edited almost eight hundred titles. He was the uncle and professional teacher ("Lehrherr") of Johann Philip Palm (1766-1806), who became even more famous as the victim of Napoleon I, who had him executed in Braunau for having distributed an anonymous pamphlet, probably by a relative of his, P.C.G. Yelin, attacking Napoleon's rule and the princes of the Rheinland, entitled Deutschland in seiner tiefen Erniederung (Germany in Her Deep Degradation). Besterman III, 3444.
