PAULLI, Simon. Historia literaria, sive dispositio librorum omnium facultatum ac artium, secundum materias, in usum philobiblorum congesta. Strassburg: Paulli, 1671.

Four parts in one volume, 12o (166 x 96 mm). Engraved printer's device on title. Contemporary half vellum (bookblock detached). Provenance: Donaueschingen, Court Library, Princes of Fürstenberg (ink stamp on verso of title).

Bookseller's catalogue of Simon Paulli, who appears to use the term "literary history" (historia literaria) in order to refer to the entire scope of information and knowledge contained in books, i.e. within those categories of books which he is offering for sale. Classes 1, 2, and 3 (comprising the first three parts of the catalogue) within this classification by Paulli have their parallel in the theology, jurisprudence, and medicine faculties at Central European universities. Paulli's class 4, i.e., miscellaneous (miscellanea) is roughly equivalent to "philosophy and the arts." Paulli is referred to as a "Strassburg bookseller" on the title page of this work.
