PLANTIN PRESS. - Index librorum qui in Typographia Plantiniana excusi venales nunc extant. Antwerp: ex officina Plantiniana Balthasari Moreti, 1642.

Small 8o (153 x 95mm). 'Labore et Constantia' woodcut device on title, pp. 25, 26, 31, 41, 51 and 71 blank except for page numbers and the running title (as issued). 20th-century blue thick paper wrappers. Provenance: some titles marked in ink by an early hand.

The penultimate Plantin press catalogue of its books, following directly on the 1615 Index but this time out of print titles are not included. Altogether, about 700 titles are given with no indication of their published price. There are two short appendices: one lists books about to be printed, the second includes works by other printers that are available from the press. The final catalogue appeared in 1656 and was also published by Balthasar II Moretus. It had shrunk to only 38pp. owing to the increasingly strict censorship imposed by the Spanish authorities. Bigmore & Wyman p. 209; Blogie 624.
