4o (207 x 150 mm). Collation: A8 B-C4. MANUSCRIPT FACSIMILE ON VELLUM. Pen-and-ink drawing of Jean Trepperel's printer's device and of the criblé title-initial. Gothic script, double column. Original gold-tooled blue straight-grained morocco by FRANçOIS BOZéRIAN, signed at foot of spine "Bozerian jeune", roll-tooled leafy-branch border and corner-quatrefoil on sides, spine decorated and lettered in compartments, gilt edges, pink silk liners, (joints and edges of binding rubbed). Folding cloth case. Provenance: Edward Vernon Utterson (d. 1856), one of the last survivors of the Roxburghe sale; his collection was particularly strong in French vernacular texts -- Robert Hoe (bookplate, Anderson sale, Part IV, New York 1912, lot 2366).

FINE PEN-AND-INK FACSIMILE ON VELLUM of the widow Trepperel and Jehannot's edition of c. 1520 (see Brunet III, 1979-80). A pencil inscription attributes the calligraphy to Fyot the younger, perhaps the son of the scribe responsible for Dr Breslauer's copy of Mérard Saint Juste's Voltaire (see lot...).
