FIRST EDITION of "a volume of nine investigations by De Marinis on Italian manuscripts, books and bindings, among them one listing sixty-eight books which he assumed to have been printed in Italy during the fifteenth century and to be unique, all but sixteen in his own collection ... As he noted in the margins of his own copy, in 1947 he presented twenty-two of them to libraries in Florence, Bologna, Naples, and Verona" (B.H. Breslauer, "Tammaro de Marinis Remembered", Hoepli Festschrift p. 267). The author noted in pencil on verso of free front endpaper that almost the entire edition was destroyed in an Allied air raid on Milan in 1943.
