In two contemporary bindings, signed by (Lion) Gruel: crimson crushed levant morocco over heavy boards, blind-ruled borders on sides, spines in six compartments, gilt-lettered in three, turn ins with gilt fillets, marbled paper liners and endleaves, top edges gilt, the others uncut, original wrappers bound in, by Léon Gruel; cloth folding cases. Provenance: Henri Bonnasse (bookplate).
LIMITED EDITION, number 18 of 30 special copies on Papier d'Hollande, initialled by the publisher, Rondeau, of the second edition of Guigard's 'Armorial', still indispensable, as in many cases it provides much more detailed biographies of the collectors than OHDR, as well as others not contained in that work at all.
