My first picture after Last Tango In Paris was a Western, The Missouri Breaks . At the time I was still giving money to the American Indians and spending heavily on Teti'aroa, so I needed the money. It wasn't a good movie, but I had fun making it. There was a lot of pot smoking and partying, my friend and neighbour, Jack Nicholson, was in it, and much of the picture was filmed on the Crow Reservation in Montana...

The Missouri Breaks, 1976
A collection of material relating to The Missouri Breaks, including:
- a script, dated 20 June, 1975, 99pp. of mimeographed typescript, with cream paper covers;
- two typescript letters, signed, to Marlon Brando on The Missouri Breaks headed stationery, one from Producer, Elliott Kastner, dated 6 August, 1975, confirming that no footage of Marlon Brando taken by the promotional film crew on The Missouri Breaks will be included in the final version of said promotional film without the express prior approval of Marlon Brando, 1p.; the other from Elliott Kastner's secretary enclosing proposals for the making of medallions, bronzes and posters to promote The Missouri Breaks...; and four other letters from Elliott Kastner or his secretary regarding publicity for the film;
- a quantity of production paperwork including 2pp. of cast lists and 110pp. of looping sheets;
- approximately 10 black and white stills, all showing Brando as Lee Clayton, largest -- 14x11in. (35.6x28cm.);
- a quantity of press clippings, some Xeroxes; and related material (a lot)
