A press book made for Marlon Brando as a souvenir of his visit to Hong Kong, 1956, with press clippings from Chinese and Hong Kong newspapers glued to the majority of pages, various dates March 1956, with 39 black and white snap-shots mounted on 9 pages of the book with photograph corners, with typescript captions glued beneath, subjects include: Brando and George Englund arriving at the Repulse Bay Hotel, Hong Kong, Brando answering questions and signing autographs at a press conference, and a dinner party in Brando's honour given by the King's and Princess Theatres, each snap-shot -- 3¼x5¼in. (8.3x13.3cm.), the pages bound with a red ribbon

Lot Essay

This visit to Hong Kong formed part of a tour Brando undertook with George Englund to carry out research for the proposed film concerning the United Nations' Technical Assistance programme which later turned in to the Ugly American.
