- one page headed Speech characteristics, Colorful phrases, with three pages inscribed with Brando's ideas for phrases that could be incorporated in to the script including: # By Hell...#Thanks Matey...#His high and mightyness...#rattling good...#a good floggin can break a man for life;
- one page headed Notes Mutiny, with five pages inscribed with notes regarding the themes and storyline, including: #1. Story of naval revolt in English nautical history 2. diff. in culture can't impose one on other 3. Political comment people not ready can't make it - preparation for future...#Political in essence that men who cry for liberty, democracy, humanity if they are not individually equipped to contribute to that idea, cannot make it work and thus a new face of evil is born - murder will out #Imposition of one culture tyranically applied over another is sure to create conflict, hostility - chaos... #not poss to make guilt a working dramatic element....Christian can save himself from guilt by creating good society? He feels responsible for these men?...#He is responsible because he is more intelligent. He allows himself the luxury of vain emotional outburst. Self-love. In retrospect he hates the fact that he allowed himself to be driven. The audience should feel he is justified at time of mutiny. Audience should feel that his guilt is understandable...
