An extensive collection of typescript notes regarding Mutiny On The Bounty, the majority annotated in blue ballpoint pen in Brando's hand, including:
- a quantity of typescript notes on a meeting between Brando and producer, Aaron Rosenberg, approximately 68pp. of mimeographed typescript, some duplicates, variously headed Aaron Rosenberg - Marlon Brando - First Talks, August 31st, Outline Pitcairn or Rebuttal Of Aaron's Concept Of Story or Criticism Of Aaron's story, the notes beginning with Brando talking Like Terry Malloy makes sense too...essentially it's the same, and continuing with his ideas on Christian's role in the film: The only thing to do is either give Christian action which makes him take action immediately right in the beginning or give the action to somebody else + invent some aspect of Christian's character + develop it..., Brando's speech going on to explore the relationship between Maimiti and Christian and how it can be exploited to add more conflict to the film;
- a quantity of typescript notes regarding the relationship between Maimiti and Christian, 4pp., with Xerox copies, Brando's comments include: If we're to spend some time you must learn to speak English because I can't bear all that grunting...;
- a quantity of typescript notes headed Treatment Of Scene Outline Of Pitcairn, 7pp., the notes beginning There are many questions still hanging in the air concerning the burning of the boat, the notes continue with a discussion of Christian's actions on the island and the treatment of the Islanders at the hands of the mutineers;
- a quantity of typescript notes titled Last Part, 12pp., with Xerox copies, Brando's comments include: He [Christian] gives her [Maimiti] time to think it out while he makes last minute preparations, when he returns, she gone;
- a quantity of typescript notes titled Christian's Various States Of Mind Regarding Bligh, And Conditions Aboard Bounty, 5pp.;
- a quantity of typescript notes titled Jay Kanter - Marlon Brando Meeting, September 18, 1961, 14pp., with xerox copies, the notes discussing the themes of the film, the treatment of the characters of Christian and Bligh and how those themes changed as the filming progressed, the meeting ending with Brando complaining about his treatment by the film's producers and directors and a comparison of his experiences during the filming of Mutiny On The Bounty with One-Eyed Jacks: If Irving Thalberg were alive today he would put a crown on my head and call me the...a new found Prince in comparison with the staid and professional producing minds which have netted us 20 million dollars, no script, and the promise of a very dull drama and not much of a return for our money...
