A collection of material relating to Sayonara, 1957, comprising:
- a quantity of loose script pages, 20pp. of mimeographed typescript, 12 pages with notes in Brando's hand in blue ballpoint pen, including: an ammendment next to Gruver's speech where he expresses his desire to meet Hana Ogi, Brando has written his being impressed should come later, and next to Hana-Ogi's speech where she tells Gruver about her upbringing, Brando has written Seems false that a Japanese girl should be so forward. Doesn't look like candour so much as cheapness;
- a U.S. half-sheet film poster -- 22x28in. (56x71.1cm.);
- approximately 110 black and white publicity photographs of Marlon Brando as Major Lloyd Gruver, majority -- 10x8in. (25.4x20.3cm.);
- approximately 20 black and white photographs of Brando in uniform as Major Gruver with his father, Marlon Brando Sr., majority -- 4½x6½in. (11.4x16.5cm.);
- approximately 64 black and white snap-shots taken during Brando's stay in Japan for the filming of Sayonara, the majority taken during a traditional Japanese meal with other members of the cast, all -- 3¼x4½in. (8.3x11.4cm.); and related material (a lot)
