FIRST AMERICAN EDITION. Aleichem's chronicle of stories about the dairyman Tevye and his daughters became the basis for the 1965 classic musical Fiddler on the Roof, which won two Tony Awards. The film version, released in 1971, was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Picture.
