Original blue-green pictorial printed wrappers, uncut (some spines age-toned, a few spines repaired, some others with minor chipping and wear); full morocco pull-off case. Provenance: Cortlandt F. Bishop (sale, AAA/Anderson, 7 April 1938, lot 573, $165).

FIRST EDITION IN ORIGINAL PARTS, all the front wrappers are dated 1836 except for Part XVII, and MANY OF THE PLATES IN THEIR FIRST STATE. The 'Pickwick Advertiser' in 5 parts (of 16), and other inserted advertisments. Contains all the rare announcement slips except in Part II. Hatton & Cleaver, pp. 3-88; Grolier English 78.
