Evelyn Calder, South Kensington, London, 9 November 1893. 2 pages, 12mo, with original envelop addressed by the author which reads: "E. Calder, Esq. (or Miss E. Calder)...". The humorous letter reads: "As I know at least two 'Evelyns', in real life, one masculine & one feminine, I feel some difficulty in adressing this letter: but I think the mathematical process of 'alternando' will meet the difficulty. It is a great pleasure to me, to know that books of mine have given pleasure to many young folk (& perhaps a few old folk) in many parts of the world- yours is not the first I have had from an Australian reader. 'Hiawatha's Photographing' is in a volume calle 'Rhyme? And Reason?', published by Messrs Macmillan. Believe me truly yours, Lewis Carroll." (3)
