FIRST EDITION. Thunderball was the source of much frustration for Fleming: he had neglected to credit Kevin McClory and Jack Whittingham, with whom he had collaborated on the writing of the screenplay, and they brought suit against him and Ivar Bryce, part-owner of the script. After ten days battling in court, they negotiated a settlement. Fleming gave up his share of the film rights to McClory, who disclaimed any interest in the novel, and received a large settlement.
