FIRST EDITION, LIMITED ISSUE, number 341 of 735 copies signed by Frost. This copy ADDITIONALLY INSCRIBED BY FROST WITH A HOLOGRAPH POEM on the limitation page: "We dance round in a ring and suppose but the Secret sits in the middle and knows Robert Frost To Earle Berhneimer April 23, 1942 Day of Publication." This two-line poem appears on page 71 in the book. Bernheimer's remarkable Frost collection was sold at Parke-Bernet in 1950. It included the only known copy of Frost's first publication, Twilight, which sold for $3500. This copy of A Witness Tree was not included in the sale. With four Joseph Pulitzer memorial stamps mounted on front free endpaper, possibly placed there by Bernheimer as this book won the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry in 1943. Crane A25. A VERY FINE COPY.
