FIRST EDITION, PRESENTATION COPY, INSCRIBED BY HENRY FONDA: "To Gaines with many thanks and all the best -- Henry Fonda." Fonda starred in the stage adaptation, for which he won a Tony Award, and film of Mister Roberts. The 1955 film also starred James Cagney, William Powell, Ward Bond, and Jack Lemmon, who won an Oscar.
