FIRST EDITION, PRESENTATION COPY, warmly inscribed by Hellman to Herman Shumlin, a Broadway producer who was also Hellman's lover: "For Herman who has always done a fine job for me and with me. With love and gratitude always. Lillian." The Little Foxes was first performed at the National Theatre in New York City on February 15, 1939. A film version was released in 1941 starring Bette Davis. EXTREMELY RARE: According to American Book Prices Current, no copies (signed OR unsigned) have appeared at auction in at least the past 30 years.
