HEMINGWAY, Ernest. A Moveable Feast. New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1964.
8o. Original cloth-backed boards (boards slightly bowed); pictorial dust jacket (a few small nicks along edges). Quarter morocco folding case. Provenance: A.E. Hotchner (presentation inscription).
FIRST EDITION, inscribed to Hotchner from Mary Hemingway: "For much of this, thanks to you Mary Hemingway April 16, 1964." Published after Hemingway's suicide, the book received its title in part from Hotcher, to whom Hemingway said in 1950: "If you are lucky enough to have lived in Paris as a young man, then wherever you go for the rest of your life, it stays with you, for Paris is a moveable feast." Mary Hemingway and Hotchner would eventually have a falling out, as she attempted to suppress Hotchner's biography of Hemingway entitled Papa Hemingway. Laid-in is a autograph note from Hotchner explaining how he assisted Mary in the editing of A Moveable Feast and gave the book its name.
