FIRST EDITION, PRESENTATION COPY TO HIS SISTER AND BROTHER-IN-LAW, inscribed by Kaufman on the front endpaper: "To Leonard and Edith if they still have room George December 1939." First performed at the Music Box Theatre in New York on October 16, 1939, the play is a delightful caricature of American drama critic Alexander Woollcott. The 1941 film version starred Bette Davis, Ann Sheridan, Jimmy Durante, and Reginald Gardiner, among others. EXTREMELY RARE: According to American Book Prices Current, no copies (signed OR unsigned) have appeared at auction in at least the past 30 years.
