FIRST ENGLISH EDITION, wrappers issue, with the "5" in the date on the upper wrapper changed by hand to a "6". Stevenson's novel was originally intended to be published in December 1885, but it was postponed until January 1886 when the trade would not look at it due to all the other Christmas numbers filling the bookstalls. There have been numerous film and television adaptations of this novel over the years, as well as a Broadway musical. Beinecke 349.
