Cooper and Edgar Wallace came up with the story about a remote island inhabited by (among other things) a huge silverback gorilla for the 1933 film. The screen play was written by James A. Creelman and Ruth Rose, and starred Fay Ray as Ann Darrow. The film went down in history as one of the great film adventures to be produced in that time period, and is considered a classic today.
