FIRST EDITION, SIGNED BY WARREN on the title-page. This copy is an advance review copy, with the review notice tipped-in to front endpaper. Warren won a Pulitzer Prize for his novel about a corrupt Southern governor, and it was the basis for a 1949 film starring Broderick Crawford, John Ireland, and Mercedes McCambridge. The movie won an Academy Award for Best Picture.
