The case with well cast foliate gilt-brass handle to the stepped top with large escapement viewing aperture, the base on gilt-brass bun feet, engine-turned gilt dial signed French London on the Roman chapter ring with blued steel Breguet-style hands, strike selection lever above engraved Not Strike/To Strike, the movement with five pillars, twin chain fusees, anchor escpement and strike on a bell, the backplate signed J. M. French Royal Exchange London
