A rare German table automaton timepiece with linear fly-back hour indication
Josephus Laminu. Circa 1750
The silvered (rubbed) brass dial plate cast with C-scrolls and applied with three brass chapter rings; the central minute ring with outer concentric Arabic minutes and inner Roman quarter divisions, the left flanking ring indicating twice XII hours and the right XII hours, the horizontal dial below with Roman chapters and signed Josephus Laminu with fly-back arrow head hand, the top of the dial set with a realistically painted automaton eye moving from side to side with the pendulum, the movement with four ring-turned pillars, going barrel and verge escapement with front-swinging pendulum
