A Louis XVI bronze patinated early carriage clock with calendar and alarm
Tavernier a Paris. Circa 1790
The case with milled ball finials to the glazed top with facetted bronze handle, glazed sides and rear door, the break arch dial with milled bezel, central white enamel chapter disc with Roman and Arabic chapters with pierced and chased ormolu lyre and fleur-de-lys hands, central calibrated brass alarm disc, signed Tavernier A Paris on an enamel plaque below flanked by palmette spandrels, the arch with apertures for the day and date within an applied ribbon-tied foliate swag centred by an Apollo sunburst, the movement with four tapering back-pinned pillars, gut fusee and spring barrel for the going train with verge escapement and bridgecock planted at the top of the backplate, the strike train with going barrel and strike/alarm on a bell in the base
