The case with rectangular trunk door above the plinth with concave moulding and on later feet, the hood with brass-capped ¾-columns, caddy top with later blind frieze frets and ball-and-spire finials, the 8 in. square brass dial signed James Reith London on the silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring with lozenge half hour markers, blued steel hands, the matted centre with small diameter seconds ring and calendar aperture, foliate spandrels, the movement with five ring-turned pillars, anchor escapement and rack strike on a bell above the plates
